Fly in to Thruxton free this October
Thruxton Aerodrome is supporting FLYER magazine's free landing initiative throughout October 2026.
Qualifying visiting pilots can take advantage of a free landing at Thruxton during the month, subject to the published terms and to normal aerodrome operating arrangements.
There is more to Thruxton than there was
If you have not flown into Thruxton recently, a fair amount has changed. The main apron has been re-lined, with two larger parking positions able to take aircraft with bigger wingspans, and flush-mounted tie-down points at every position. New aircraft hangars are complete and have brought a number of new residents onto the aerodrome. There is a new Aerodrome Fire Station. NamAir are establishing a Line Maintenance Facility in Hangar 10 from October, so line maintenance and defect support are available on site.
Further projects are in progress, including a new refuelling facility for both AVGAS and Jet A-1, work towards a permanent replacement control tower, and new pilot facilities under construction that will include flight-planning space.
Planning your visit
Thruxton is a historic Hampshire aerodrome and an active General Aviation site, alongside the circuit and the wider estate.
Please check the current aerodrome information and operating hours before you fly, and note that aerodrome closures apply around race meetings and some other events.
The aerodrome is closed from 24 December 2026 until 2 January 2027.
A note on October traffic
Weather permitting, Thruxton will be busier than usual for the time of year, particularly at weekends and during spells of good flying weather. Please maintain a good lookout, especially when joining the circuit.
